Built by one person.
Arete is made and maintained by me, Dario Dastan, working solo from Maastricht in the Netherlands.
I built Arete because the app I wanted did not exist. The trackers I tried were either spreadsheets in disguise or social apps with a logging feature bolted on. I did not want a busier feed or a longer list of metrics. I wanted an honest answer to the only question that decides whether training is working: am I doing more than I did last time?
So that is the whole app. You build your workouts, you log your sets, and after every session Arete tells you plainly which lifts moved forward. Progressive overload is not a feature here, it is the point. Everything else exists to serve it.
How I build it
Every decision runs through one filter: does it help you see progress more clearly, or does it just add weight? Your training data stays private by default and is stored carefully. There are no ads and nothing is sold. When you share a session, it goes to the friends you chose, and no further.
As a one-person project, the roadmap is deliberate and the app stays small on purpose. If something feels off or you wish it did something it doesn't, I would genuinely like to hear it. Feedback from people who actually train shapes what gets built next.
